Bienvenidos | Taiguey | Akeyi

A Black family-owned cacao farm & sacred refuge at the foothills of Yamasa, Monte Plata. Nestled in the lush, water-rich hills of Yamasa—an ancestral Taíno name for this fertile land—Tierra de 'Cao is more than a cacao farm—

it is a living sanctuary.

Situated on the eastern side of the island of Ayiti, now referred to as the Dominican Republic, this sacred ground pulses with memory, abundance, and the quiet power of rooted care.

This cacao

isn’t from a lab or a trend cycle

With each bag of Tierra de 'Cao cacao, you’re not just tasting the land—you’re investing in it.

We proudly reinvest a portion of every cacao sale into local mutual aid and community-rooted initiatives.

One of these is Juventud Al Día, a brilliant youth-led radio and TV program where young people investigate and speak out on education, environmental justice, and human rights—all from the heart of Yamasa.

Healthy Soil,
Healthy Cacao

At Tierra de ‘Cao, we believe food is only as sacred as the soil it grows from. That’s why we’ve partnered with an independent lab to test for heavy metals and contaminants in our cacao and the land it grows on.

This is part of our long-term commitment to transparency, soil regeneration, and safe, ancestral foodways.

The full lab results are currently in progress and will be ready for public review by the end of 2025. We’re proud to take this step toward deeper accountability—not just to our customers, but to the land, our elders, and future generations.
